The Commonwealth War Graves Commission has 382 recorded WW1 deaths for the 5th Battalion, Welsh Regiment. This figure includes the records for the 1st/5th, 2nd/5th & 3rd/5th Battalions. On 8th October 1915, the 1st/4th & 1st/5th Battalions amalgated to form the 4th Composite Welsh Battalion until 10th February 1916. On 3rd July 1917 the same two battalions again amalgamated to form the 4th/5th Battalion.
