Gazetted October 1916, Manchester Regiment, pending transfer, having passed examination for permanent commission in Indian Army. Educated privately & then at Kingston Grammar School from 15-09-1904 to 31-11-1911 & then King's School, Rochester. At age 18, he enlisted with the 2nd Public Schools Battalion, 19th Royal Fusiliers. After training 7 5 months in France, he was sent to a Cadet Training School, emerging as a Serjeant & then being commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Manchester Regimnt. He joined the regiment at the front on 15-12-1916 & was killed in action 2 months later. Also remembered on King's Great War Memorial in the Lady Chapel of Rochester Cathedral.
