The Queen's Own Oxfordshire Hussars was a Yeomanry Regiment of the British Army first raised in 1794. Both Winston Churchill & his younger brother Jack served with the regiment. As was his wish, the regiment led the coffin at Winston Churchill's funeral, to the displeasure of more senior regiments. At one time, they were known as "Queer Objects On Horses".
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission has 161 recorded WW1 deaths for the Queen's Own Oxfordshire Hussars. Winston Churchill was a Major with this regiment during his time as 1st Lord of the Admiralty.
