Son of the Reverend Canon Charles Edward Drought, vicar of St. John's, Toorak, Victoria, Australia & Mary Lilias Drought of "Salerno", Toorak Road, South Yarra, Australia. Born at St. Kilda, Victoria. Commissioned in the 7th Battalion of the Lincolnshire Regiment in 1914. He was struck by a shell while attempting to rescue some wounded men at Ypres, and was taken to Le Touquest where, after suffering the amputation of his leg, he died on December 31, 1915. Stone Inscription :- " Eldest Son Of Canon C.E. Drought M.A. St. John's, Toorak, Melbourne".
